Raised in an education imbued with the rigor of the Christian religion and rooted in an African culture, the precepts of my faith and cultural norms had kept me in ignorance of the delights and challenges of romantic relationships. Ifoku’s resounding return to my life, as I stood at the height of my professional success, was not simply a coincidence, but rather the trigger for a profound transformation.The barriers erected by my education and culture began to crack. Memories of our teenage friendship turned into a whirlwind of emotions, revealing feelings I didn’t know I had. This is how I discovered that love was much more complex than I had imagined, to the point of perceiving my romantic experience with Ifoku as a revelation.
